How we work together

We don’t just draft plans.
We care whether they work.

You should always know where you are in the process and what comes next. Here is what we commit to, and exactly how an engagement with Plan Well Legacy Law unfolds.

What makes Plan Well different

Think. Understand.
Implement.

1

We help you think.

You do not need to arrive knowing which documents or what type of trust you need. That is our job. Ours is to help you think deeply about your family, the people you trust, the life you have built, your property, your concerns, and what you want to happen if you become incapacitated and after you are gone.

2

We help you understand.

We explain estate planning in language that actually makes sense. We want you to know what your plan says, why it says it, who is responsible for what, and exactly what your family will need to do when the plan is eventually used. A beautifully drafted plan is not much help if no one understands it.

3

We help you implement.

Creating a trust is only part of the job. Your assets have to be properly connected to it. Elsewhere, clients often handle that funding themselves to save money. They leave intending to finish it later, life gets busy, and sometimes it never gets done. We would rather you not discover that years from now, when the plan is finally needed.

The Plan Well approach

Listen. Educate.
Design. Protect.

Four commitments that shape every engagement, and the reason our clients leave understanding their plan, not just owning it.

01

Listen

Before we talk about documents, we want to understand your family, your goals, your concerns, and what matters most to you.

02

Educate

Estate planning involves complicated concepts. Our job is to make them understandable so you can make informed decisions.

03

Design

There is no one-size-fits-all plan. Yours should be designed around your family, your assets, your priorities, and the future you are building.

04

Protect

The documents are only part of the process. We make sure you know how your plan works and what it takes to keep it working.

Our communication guarantee

When you are ready, we are right there with you.

Taking the first step toward an estate plan matters, and we want to help you keep that momentum. Once you have signed an engagement letter and retained us as your attorneys, we commit to responding to every communication within 24 hours. We usually respond much sooner, but 24 hours is our promise to our clients.

The process

Six steps,
no mystery.

From the first complimentary conversation through your signing ceremony, you will know what is happening and what we need from you.

  1. 01

    Let’s talk.

We begin with a complimentary 15-minute initial consultation. We will talk about what brought you to us, what you are hoping to accomplish, and whether Plan Well Legacy Law is the right fit for you.

  2. 02

    Make it official.

If you decide to move forward, we send you an engagement agreement and payment information. We offer payment plans to make thoughtful estate planning more accessible and better serve our clients. Once your agreement is executed and the initial payment required by its terms is received, we are officially your lawyers and the planning begins.

  3. 03

    Design your plan.

Before your Design Meeting you complete a questionnaire that helps us understand your family, assets, concerns, and goals. We usually meet virtually for an in-depth conversation and design your plan together, so our time goes to thoughtful decisions instead of collecting basic information.

This is where we design your plan. Pun entirely intended.

  4. 04

    We draft.

Once we have designed the plan together, we translate those decisions into carefully prepared legal documents built around your circumstances and your goals.

  5. 05

    You review.

We provide drafts for your review before signing. This is your plan, and the documents should accurately reflect your wishes. You will have the opportunity to review everything, ask questions, and identify any changes before it becomes final.

  6. 06

    The signing ceremony.

Once everything is right, we schedule your Signing Ceremony. Depending on your circumstances and location, signing may happen at our office, your home, or another mutually agreed place. We make sure everything is properly executed, and we explain what happens next.

Let’s Plan Well

You do not need to know what documents you need.
You just need to start the conversation.
